Covid-19 Pandemic
The first case in Japan was a Japanese man who never went to the Chinese city was found to be infected on January 28th. Some time around February a cluster of infected people were discovered on the Diamond Princess cruise ship visiting Japan. February was also the month of the first death caused be Covid in Japan. The Coronavirus cases increased rapidly surpassing 700 in mid April.
Just as we thought the cases were cooling down towards the end of April, in late June infections began rising more and more until August when the second state of emergency was announced. Till 2021 April the cases were going up and down. Finally on April 25th the third state of emergency was announced in Tokyo, Osaka, Hyogo and Kyoto prefectures. The initial end date of the emergency was May 11th but then extended to May 31st. “It would be far from saying the (state of emergency) declaration has borne fruit unless a seven-day rolling average stands far below 100,” Toshizo Ido, the current governor of Hyogo prefecture, said at a news conference. Therefore, there is a possibility of another extension due to rising cases in Japan.
