How BTS 'Butter' Changed My Mind

Before you start reading, please don’t get offended or insulted because it gets better, I promise.

It started in fifth grade. My friend had gone crazy about BTS. She was the only one that liked BTS in my class at that time. She would talk about it 24/7. It was annoying (at that time). My friend would be like, “Oh, did you know that Jungkook...blah….blah...blah...something...something…something.”. I would say something and she would somehow find a way to relate BTS to it. I’d say,” This fanfiction is so good.” and she would say, “Suga wrote fanfictions when he was younger, you know.” My mind would be like, “Dude, shut up! You said that, like, five times, already.” I thought that they were overrated.

Little did I know that I would become an ARMY.

I became an ARMY on May 22nd, 2021. The day right after the release of ‘Butter’. I am not sure why, but I wanted to become an ARMY. I realized how talented and smart they were. To fangirl over these groups gave me some sort of pride in supporting them. And I actually did like them. I didn’t ‘fake’ like them just because 3 of my friends are fans of them. I actually liked them because they were talented and smart. Not just to fit in.

I eventually liked another group called ‘Seventeen’ recently on June 17 th, 2021.

Now I understand. K- pop isn’t overrated. K-pop is an art to share and express feelings through music.
