Goodbye 2021, Hello 2022

" We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day. "
- Edith Lovejoy Pierce

It seems like the first day of 2021 was just yesterday, but the calendars have been too quick for us to notice. Happy New Year! It's finally 2022! A new adventure is awaiting us!

The year 2021 was a bumpy ride, a year filled with small and large bumps across its path, but we made it! All the hardships and memories of 2021 has come to an end. Now, the new stories of 2022 greet us.

Speaking of New Year's Day, how did you spend your first day in 2022?

As you might already now, countries all around the globe spend New Year's eve and New Year's day at different times. The very first is the Line Islands and Tonga, then Australia, then Japan, South Korea and North Korea, then Philippines, then India, then European countries, and last, but not the least is the USA.

Each country across the globe celebrates New Year's eve and day in many different ways. The New Year's celebration across the globe begins with the display of fireworks over Sydney Harbour (Australia).

In my country, Philippines, we have a New Year's feast called Media Noche. This New Year's, I spent my first day of the year with family friends and like I mentioned, we had Media Noche. The table was filled with food like: embutido, spaghetti, pesto, chocolate cake, and many others. We also prepare 12 round fruits for the wishing of prosperity in all 12 months of the year. Along with that, we watched the first sunrise of 2022. We spent our days with smiles due to what the myths say:

How you spend your first day in the year, is how the rest of your year will be like.

On the other hand, all around the world, there is one common tradition that I follow myself. New Year's resolutions. A sneak peak on my New Year's resolution is to build a better persona, be more organized, and to boost my grades up.

If you haven't thought of one, now is not too late to choose one! Here's some suggestions:

- Build a new hobby

- Exercise more

- Get better in math

- Do random acts of kindness

- Read one book each month

- Go places you've never been to

These are just some suggestions, but there are many more you could choose from!

Feel free to share your experiences and resolutions in the comments! Happy New Year and all the very best for this year!
